Bernard & Isabel
Bernard & Isabel is a new work for narrator and orchestra, aimed at a family-concert audience. It was first performed at Symphony Hall in Birmingham in December 2011. The piece sets two stories by the legendary children’s author David McKee. A new version for chamber orchestra was premiered at the St Magnus Festival in June 2015.
|Not Now, Bernard tells the story of a young boy who is ignored by his busy, busy parents – even after a dramatic encounter with a monster in the garden.|
|In Isabel’s Noisy Tummy, a girl’s grumbling stomach gets her into trouble at school – but comes to the rescue on a visit to the zoo.
Sound clips are played by the BPSO, conducted by Tom Hammond and narrated by Danny Mizon.
