Bernard Hughes’s new choral work Salve Regina will be premiered by the Crouch End Festival Chorus on Tuesday 17 June 2014, conducted by David Temple. The commission is part of the choir’s 30th anniversary season and was sponsored by Denise Haddon in memory of her husband. The piece, for antiphonal SATB choirs, sets the medieval Latin prayer in a rich and colourful harmonic language and is part of a varied programme which includes Thomas Tallis’s celebrated Spem in Alium.
