Bernard Hughes writes regularly on new music for Tempo, a quarterly published by Cambridge University Press and edited by Calum MacDonald. He has written about Param Vir, Judith Weir and contributes regular CD reviews.

Bernard writes a regular column called ‘In Analysis’ for New Notes, the monthly magazine of SPNM, the Society for the Promotion of New Music. These are short introductions and personal responses to music written since about 1970. Bernard also contributes regular concert and CD reviews to the SPNM website.
